The transport ministry is inviting tenders for the construction of wave breakers and other work to protect Chlorakas coast between the St George and Laura hotels.

The €3.73 million project includes the construction of five parallel 70-metre wave breakers, the construction of a ramp for boats and demolition of the existing pier and wave breaker in front of St George Hotel. Work will also be carried out on mooring areas.

The study for the project was carried out by Rogan and Associates and Dion. Toumazis & Associates in cooperation with the marine projects branch of the department of public works.

The project is co-financed by the EU and will take two years to complete. The contract is expected to be signed in November.
