Police said on Thursday they had arrested a 63-year-old third-country national in Kato Paphos on suspicion of forging a European passport.

According to the police, a foreign woman visited a bank branch on June 17, 2020 and presented a Lithuanian passport.

During that time, police were investigating cases of fake documents from Lithuania, an EU member state.

When the bank employee started questioning the woman, she left the bank, leaving the fake passport there.

Police arrested the 63-year-old woman after receiving evidence against her.

The suspect claimed that although the photo of the passport shows her face, she was not the one who went in the bank.

She is faced with charges of forgery, circulation of a forged document, false representation and illegal stay in the republic.
