Coronavirus: Five people fined after 4,068 checks

Five people were fined in Limassol and Paphos for violating Covid measures in the last 24 hours, police said on  Wednesday.

The fines, which mainly concerned failure to wear a face mask, resulted after 4,068 checks nationwide between 6am on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

Police said they booked one person in Limassol after 644 checks and four individuals in Paphos after 529 checks.

No violations were reported in Nicosia, Larnaca, Famagusta or Morphou.

Officers in the capital carried out 834 checks, in Larnaca 584, Famagusta 672 and 369 in Morphou.

Traffic as well as marine and port police also carried out 352 and 84 checks respectively without reporting any violations.
