The health ministry announced one death and 83 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday.

A 92-year-old man passed away at Limassol hospital, bringing the total death toll to 363, of whom 241 were men and 122 women, with an average age of 78.

There are 52 coronavirus patients in hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition. Of the 18, 11 are intubated, two are in ICU and five in the High Dependency Unit.

A total of 54,217 PCR and rapid antigen tests were carried out 83 new cases, and a positivity rate of 0.15 per cent.

Out of the of 54,217 tests performed today, 6,389 were PCR and 47,828 rapid tests.

The total number of positives to date is 72,709.

The majority, 28 of the 83 positives, came from 354 samples taken through contact tracing, with 14 more detected from 1,898 samples taken through private initiative.

Five positives came from 529 samples processed by hospital labs

Twenty-seven more positives came from 47,299 rapid tests taken at health ministry testing sites, with two more found from 529 rapid tests taken at pharmacies and private labs.

No positives were found among 222 samples taken through GP referrals.

In addition, 3,623 samples were taken at airports with seven positives.

Six cases were detected through rapid testing in Nicosia (0.04 per cent positivity rate), 14 in Limassol (0.12 per cent positivity rate), three in Larnaca (0.05 per cent positivity rate), three in Paphos (0.08 per cent positivity rate) and none in Famagusta.
