Arrest on child pornography charges following Europol tip off

A 20-year-old man has been arrested for child pornography after a tip off from Europol, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Monday.

The suspect, a Larnaca resident, was arrested on Sunday.

Police said that they had been notified by Europol that a user had allegedly uploaded on to his social media page a number of child sex abuse files.

The cybercrime unit obtained testimony against the 20-year-old and he was arrested on the basis of an arrest warrant on Sunday morning.

In his possession police found a mobile phone which has been sent for forensic tests.
