An 81-year-old man has died of his injuries after he was hit by his own car.

The victim was named as Andreas Theophanous, 81, from Potami.

The accident occurred on the Vyzakia-Potami road at around 3 pm on Monday, when Theophanous got out of his car. Under conditions being investigated, the car moved forward, and hit Theophanous as he tried to immobilise.

He was rushed to Nicosia Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10.00 pm.

His wife, aged 78, who was a passenger in the car was unhurt.

Police are investigating.
