Art exhibition explores places and landscapes

Places and Landscapes as seen by Cyprus and Athens-based artist Sophia Papacosta will go on display at the Culture centre of Phaneromenis70 in old Nicosia as of June 25.

“The exhibited artworks,” says the artist, “deal with a chapter of some small and very small artworks, deriving from my personal need to explore the procedure of writing as a process in painting and drawing. Through techniques of drawing and redrawing, and by giving space in the pleasure of the process, I re-approached fragments of previous artworks, without a clear expectation of what the result should be.”

The exhibition will be part of a project that started at Phaneromenis70 a few months ago – the Locomotion Box. This large box hosts a series of small projects and is open for artists to use to showcase their work. This month, the box is hosting Sophia’s art.
