How getting a haircut reveals kids’ poignant inner worlds

Advisory, there is brief use of Tourette’s-induced profanity at the 9:15-26 mark.

Have you ever wondered what’s really going on in children’s heads? All it may take to find out is to chat over a hair-cut.

In this poignant video from Dutch documentary series ‘Talking Heads’, host and kids’ hairdresser Marko Suds sensitively navigates the inner worlds of four eight- to 12-year-old children in his salon chair.

There’s Marijn, who mulls what it would mean to meet his sperm-donor father; Taysen, who’s tired after a night spent watching a TV show about criminal fugitives; Zhuan, who struggles with Tourette’s syndrome that causes his tics and occasional use of profanity; and Annemarie, whose beloved father has had a debilitating stroke.
