83-year-old man arrested for assaulting woman

An 83-year-old Paphos resident was arrested after allegedly assaulting and injuring a 51-year-old woman, police said on Tuesday.

The incident was reported to the police when the woman visited Paphos’ general hospital with a fracture of her right arm and injuries to her right leg and shoulder.

Following police examinations, it emerged the woman was assaulted by the male pensioner. The 83-year-old also broke the windows of her house using an ax, police said citing a witness statement.

Officers arrested the man while investigations into the incident continue.
