A 77-year-old man was spotted floating unconscious in the sea off Ayia Napa at around 2.00 pm on Friday and brought to shore by a lifeguard who administered first aid.
The man was taken by ambulance to Famagusta Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Next of kin have been informed, police said.
