Nicosia court

Two men, aged 22 and 21, were remanded on Friday for eight days in connection with the stabbing on Thursday of a 23-year-old man in Nicosia.

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital after the incident. All three are from Syria.

The incident took place at around noon in a parking lot in central Nicosia when the 22-year-old seems to have injured the 23-year-old with a knife to the face and neck during a scuffle.

He then fled the scene in a car driven by the 21-year-old. Reports said the incident took place near the asylum service offices. The scuffle was on who had priority at the waiting line at the asylum service.

The two suspects are being investigated for murder attempt, conspiracy to commit crime, injury, and possession of an assault weapon.
