Woman fined €1,000 and has licence suspended after traffic accident

The Larnaca district court fined a 22-year-old woman €1,000 on Wednesday and suspended her licence for three months after she admitted to causing a traffic crash while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The court also gave her seven penalty points.

The incident happened at 9pm on Tuesday on Makarios Avenue in Kiti. Police said the woman had entered the oncoming traffic lane and crashed into a car driven by a 48-year-old woman.

After the collision, the 48-year-old crashed into a parked car.

All vehicles were extensively damaged.

A breathalyser gave a reading of 110 microgrammes while the legal limit is nine microgrammes as she is a novice driver.
