Another ID arrest at Paphos airport

Paphos police are investigating one more case of stolen identification papers after the arrest of a man at Paphos airport.

According to police, a man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at the airport before leaving for Vienna after showing a Belgian identity card and an electronic boarding pass with his phone number on it.

Further examination, however, revealed that the photograph on the ID was not the same as the person who presented it.

During the inspection, police found that the identity card was identified as lost. The man was arrested and taken to CID for questioning.

There has been a recent spate of arrests at Paphos airport of people, mostly of African origin, trying to leave Cyprus on fake or stolen documents.
