Temperatures will hit 40C inland again on Friday, the met office said on Thursday as it issued a yet another extreme high temperature warning.
The latest yellow alert will be in force from 11.00 to 17.00 with the inland maximum temperature expected to rise to about 40C, it said.
The thermometer has been stuck at those levels for most of the week and while it is expected to edge down on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, temperatures will remain above the seasonal average, the met office said.
In its weather forecast, it said the season low pressure is affecting the area. Friday will be mainly fine, and temperatures will rise to 40C inland, around 34C on the coasts and 31C in the higher mountains.
Maximum temperatures on Thursday were Nicosia 41C, Larnaca Airport 33C, Limassol 33C, Paphos Airport 33C, Frenaros 35C, Prodromos 31C and Polis Chrysochous 33C. Humidity ranged from 33 per cent in Prodromos to 67 per cent at Paphos Airport and in Polis Chrysochous.
