Student stopped from boarding plane after gun found in his bag

Paphos airport

Paphos police prevented a 19-year-old man with an air pistol from boarding on a plane on Sunday, they reported on Monday.

The incident occurred during a check at Paphos International Airport, police said.

During a baggage check it was found that the 19-year-old student, who was to board a plane for Thessaloniki, was carrying a black air pistol, cartridges and other items where possession requires permission from a competent authority.

The student allegedly admitted he knew the items were in his bag. He was arrested, the gun seized, and was charged in writing to be brought before court at a later date.
