Man remanded after purposefully running another down

A 43-year-old man was remanded for eight days on Wednesday in connection with a hit and run in Paphos last month which police are treating as murder attempt against two people.

The suspect had been sought by the police since August 5 after a road accident when he allegedly hit two pedestrians crossing the street, aged 42 and 29, with his car and drove off. The incident occurred on Eleftherios Venizelos street in Paphos.

The car involved in the accident belongs to the 43-year-old.

He was spotted on Tuesday in the Famagusta area by police officers.

The suspect reportedly admitted he purposely hit the 42-year-old man with his car and he was seriously injured. From the collision, a 29-year-old man who was walking with the 42-year-old was also injured.

The 43-year-old is being investigated for attempted murder.
