Russian ballet to dazzle Limassol

3

The Russian Ballet Theatre Moscowia is coming to Limassol to present three ballets next week. Coming up first at the Municipal Garden Theatre on Wednesday is the famous tale of Carmina Burana.

The plot of the ballet is based on the bright, full of passion and optimistic poetry of medieval poets. Karl Off, inspired by this great poetry, created music that has become popular and loved throughout the world. Talented, highly professional ballet soloists, from Bolshoi Theatre, Grigorovich ballet and Cyprus will dance.

Also at the Municipal Garden Theatre a few days later dancers will present A Midsummer’s Night Dream. This fantasy ballet based on Shakespeare’s play will take the floor on September 10.

For their final performance in Limassol, the Russian Ballet Theatre Moscowia is changing its location and moving indoors to Pattihio Theatre on September 12 to present the ballet Moonlight. The ballet tells the story of a musician’s one-sided love for a childish and selfish ballerina. When the musician understands that he will never be the ballerina’s true love, he vows to abandon music and never play the piano again. But a life without music is meaningless for him. While feeling great pain and despair, he recollects the vision of the beautiful muse that appeared to him in his first musical steps. Her tenderness brings his love for music back to life and when he appreciates the beauty of life, he becomes happy and meets his true love.

The choreographer of all three ballet performances is the founder of the Russian Ballet theatre company Lilia Sabitova, who is also a dancer herself. She was a principal ballerina in numerous tours of the Bolshoi Ballet and the Russian State Theater Ballet participating in international tours of other ballet companies in the leading roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, Nutcracker and Valpourge’s Night among others.
