Coronavirus: First-dose vaccination coverage reaches almost 80%

Vaccination coverage in adults across Cyprus with the first dose, has reached almost 80 per cent, the health ministry said on Sunday.

Specifically, where people 18 and over are concerned, 79.8 per cent received the first dose, while 75.8 per cent are fully vaccinated.

In the 16-17 age group, 39.1 per cent of people received the first jab and 31.9 completed their vaccination. For children aged 12-15, a total of 23.3 per cent received the first dose and 11.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.

By age group, people who received the first dose that are 80-years-old and above amount to 98.3 per cent, while the figures for people aged 70-79 are 97.5 per cent. Between 60-69, coverage with the first dose totaled 89.5 per cent, for people aged 50-59, the figure reached 83.8 per cent, for the 40-49 age group, the number amounts to 89 per cent.

For people aged between 30-39, a total of 72.4 per cent received the first dose while 62.1 per cent of people between the age of 20 – 29 received the first dose. People aged between 18 – 19, the number reached 50.4 per cent, the 16 – 17 group figures amounted to 39.1 per cent and the 12 – 15 age group first dose coverage reached 23.3 per cent.

Per district, Paphos has the highest vaccination rate with 90.7 per cent of the adult population getting at least the first jab, followed by Famagusta and Nicosia with 89.4 per cent and 79.1 per cent respectively.

In Limassol, 78.3 per cent received at least the first dose while in Larnaca, the figure amounts to 74.2 per cent.
