Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas will participate in a 10km fundraising run in support of people with cancer next week.

The race, which is organised at the minister’s initiative, will start at 6pm on October 8 in Phinikoudes, Larnaca – the minister’s home district.

All the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (Pasykaf).

The minister called on everyone to support his effort, sponsoring every kilometre he will run, Pasykaf wrote on their Facebook page.

The first 6km are sponsored for €1,000. The next three kilometres will amount to €3,000 each, and the 10th and last kilometre is a donation worth €5,000.

For this purpose, Pasykaf called on companies and organisations that would like to contribute financially and support this event.

“With your participation and contribution, we will be given the opportunity to continue our services and programmes,” to boost the support to people with cancer and their families, the NGO said.

Pasykaf offers free services to all cancer patients and their families throughout the illness. Those include among others, palliative home care and medical care, psychological and social Support, patients transport from all districts to the Nicosia and Limassol Oncology Centres, and Bereavement Support.
