Coronavirus: No deaths, 134 test positive on Saturday (Updated)

The health ministry announced there had been no  deaths from Covid on Saturday and said there were  134 new positives from 46,046 PCR and rapid tests a positivity rate of 0.29 per cent.

The death toll since March 2020 remains at 557 with an average age of 76

There are 60 people in hospitals of whom 23 are in serious condition. Of these, 11 are intubated.

The ministry said 60 per cent of patients were unvaccinated.

Of the 46,046 tests on Saturday, 4,606 were PCR and 41,440 rapid tests yielding 134 positives as follows: b

  • 3 from 24 samples taken through contact tracing 
  • 14 from 2,543 airport tests 
  • 41 from 1,861 samples taken through private initiative
  • 4 from 166 tests done in hospital labs
  • 46 from 31,479 samples tested in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies
  • 26 from 9,961 samples under the free testing for eligible groups 

By district the free testing programme turned up the following positives
