Three men jailed for five years for robbery and kidnapping

The central prison in Nicosia

Paphos criminal court handed down five-year prison sentences to three men aged 34, 30 and 29 charged with robbing and kidnapping a 36-year-old man last September.

The police report said that in the afternoon of September 12 2020, the three men entered the victim’s home and threatened him and his partner before stealing a number of electronic devices worth €2,000 in total.

They then led the 36-year-old to a bank where, using threats, they forced him to withdraw a total of €1,260, which one of them then took.

The three suspects were arrested the next day following a complaint by the victim and kept in custody while Paphos CID investigated the case.

Paphos criminal court found the three guilty of robbery, kidnapping, extortion, intimidation, illegal entry into property, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

They will serve concurrent sentences, the longest one being five years for robbery.
