Paphos regional board of tourism (ETAP), and organisers of the 23rd Logicom Cyprus Marathon, will welcome renowned long-distance runners to Paphos, in a coordinated effort aimed at promoting the region as an international sports tourism destination.

Supported by local hoteliers and the deputy ministry of tourism, the nine athletes from Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK, will be arriving in Paphos on Wednesday for a three-day experience that will showcase Paphos’ sports facilities and high-level infrastructure.

“Paphos ranks among the top sport training destinations that differentiates it from competitors,” head of the Paphos regional board of tourism, Nasos Hadjigeorgiou told the Cyprus Mail. “The region offers a wide range of top-class facilities for hosting popular sporting events throughout the year, excellent weather, impressive choice of accommodation, and wonderful hospitality.”

During their stay, the athletes will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the Paphos district. “The hospitality and related activity programme will include a guided tour of Paphos’ marathon routes, visits to hotels, road trips through Paphos’ scenic countryside, and the region’s rich cultural heritage,” Hadjigeorgiou added.

The Paphos regional board of tourism is continuing to strengthen the promotion of the area as a sport training destination that meets the demands of the most intensive, professional training programmes.
