Arrest warrant issued for woman over theft of €70,000 from Paphos home

arrested 2

Police have issued an arrest warrant against a 53-year-old woman in connection with the theft of around €70,000 from an apartment in Kato Paphos last week.

In statements to the media, Paphos police spokesman Michalis Ioannou said the woman is a ‘key’ person in the case as, according to the 64-year-old owner of the house, she was the only one who knew about the specific sum of money.

The woman had a friendly relationship with the Russian house owner, police said.

According to his statement, the home owner had withdrawn the money from the bank before an upcoming trip to his country.

The burglary took place at around 3pm on Friday when three hooded men barged into the apartment, assaulted the 64-year-old and stole the cash. The victim was injured but is not in serious condition.

He told police the culprits were speaking to him in Russian.
