Police seized two kilos of cannabis and arrested a 36-year-old man on Tuesday after a car chase in rural Larnaca.

According to drug squad chief Michalis Katsounotos, the man, who had been under surveillance, was driving a car in the Dromolaxia area.

At some stage officers chased the vehicle and managed to intercept it after it crashed into the patrol car.

The driver was arrested, and two kilos of cannabis were seized, Katsounotos said.

Two officers were slightly injured in the collision and were taken to Larnaca general hospital A&E. They were treated and subsequently discharged.

The suspect is expected to be brought before court on Wednesday.
