Man remanded over firework haul

A 46-year-old man on Wednesday was remanded for six days by Limassol district court in connection with a large shipment of fireworks.

A second suspect is being sought.

Police said that the previous day, customs officials seized 1,291 kilos of fireworks and firecrackers from a shipping container that had been taken from Limassol port to the importer’s premises.

An arrest warrant was issued against the 46-year-old man, who lives in a Larnaca village, and he was arrested early on Wednesday morning.

The suspect was brought before Limassol district court and remanded for six days.

Police are looking for a second suspect, a 45-year-old man.
