Jab for children under 12 on agenda

The state vaccination committee will discuss Wednesday the inoculation of children between the ages of five and 11, the health ministry’s permanent secretary, Christina Yiannaki said on Tuesday.

Yiannaki said the national committee would preliminarily discuss the issue on vaccinations of children aged five to 11 ahead of the “important decision” on Thursday of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use is to hold an extraordinary meeting on Thursday to discuss the evaluation of an application to extend the use of Comirnaty, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer, to children aged five to 11.

Children aged 12 and over are vaccinated in Cyprus.
