Coronavirus: 24 fines after 2,114 checks

Police on Tuesday said they booked 24 people, including three business owners, after 2,114 checks for the implementation of coronavirus measures in the government-controlled areas.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday.

In Nicosia, eight people and one business were booked after 937 checks, in Famagusta ten people were fined after 305 checks and two people were booked in Limassol after 187 checks while one individual was also booked in Paphos following 184 inspections.

No violations were reported in Laranca or Morphou after 326 and 62 checks respectively.

Traffic, port and marine police also carried out 111 and two checks each without any bookings.

Violations include failure to wear a face mask or carry a SafePass.
