Minister of Finance Constantinos Petrides earlier this week led a group of Cypriot representatives on a trip to Dubai, aiming to promote Cyprus as an investment and business centre to the UAE market.

Petrides, who was joined by Invest Cyprus’ chairman Ioannis Matsis, CEO George Campanellas, and board member Andreas Assiotis, participated in an event titled ‘Roundtable with the Government of Cyprus’, which was attended by high-ranking business and investment community executives from the region.

During the discussion, emphasis was placed on highlighting opportunities for investment in projects in a number of fields, including those of renewable energy, tourism and hospitality, education, health and technology.

Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the new government strategy recently announced by the Minister of Finance, as well as the long-term development model “Cyprus 2035”, which is currently being developed by the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.

The final panel discussion of the event included the participation of Corporate Finance and Business Development Manager at DP World Abdulla bin Desmal, as well as Astrobank board chairman Shadi Karam.

The discussion, which was moderated by Invest Cyprus CEO George Campanellas, allowed attendees to listen to first-hand testimonials and analyses of foreign investors who are already operating in Cyprus.

“The fact that important business executives from the United Arab Emirates had the opportunity to be informed about the prospects of the Cypriot economy and the advantages offered by our country by the Minister of Finance, facilitates our efforts as a country to attract investment from a region with intense economic activity and significant available investment funds “, Invest Cyprus president Ioannis Matsis said.

“We especially thank the Minister of Finance for his initiative and his contribution to the successful organisation of this conference,” he added.
