Coronavirus: events planner fined €8,000

An events planner was fined €8,000 for violations of the measures against the spread of Covid-19, police said on Sunday.

The case concerns an organiser of a private company event in Limassol after police found that the protocols for events were not observed while some participants were there without a SafePass.

Another three businesses and 19 individuals were booked during the past 24 hours for violations of the measures against the spread of Covid-19.

Also in Limassol, a bar manager was fined €500 after he was found to work without a SafePass. A coffee shop in the same district was fined €500 for letting in customers without a SafePass. The business was also charged with criminal offences after it emerged that gambling was taking place there. The case will be filed in court, police said.

One restaurant in the Paphos district was fined €500 because employees were not wearing face masks.

Two individuals were booked in Nicosia and five in Limassol. Another person was booked in Larnaca, seven in the Famagusta district, and one in Paphos. Three individuals were fined in the Morphou area.

Most fines concerned the non-use of face masks and SafePass.
