Six charged with illegal gambling in Paphos

Paphos police on Monday said they caught six people gambling as part of increased checks to prevent gambling in view of the holidays.

According to a statement by the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, during the weekend, Paphos police charged six people in writing for gambling at an establishment on Archbishop Makarios avenue in the village of Emba, Paphos.

Officers confiscated 52 cards and 128 gaming chips.

Of the six people arrested, two had outstanding court fines. They were taken to the police station where they paid the fines and were released.
