Coronavirus:  Seven businesses, 13 individuals booked for breaking decrees

Police booked seven businesses and 13 individuals for various violations of coronavirus measures after 2,524 checks in the government-controlled areas.

These were carried out between 6am on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

Most of them, 1,007, were carried out in the capital where officers issued two fines concerning one person and one establishment, while ten fines, including four businesses, were issued in Limassol after just 225 checks.

Four people were also booked in Famagusta after 436 checks, one establishment and one individual were booked in Larnaca after 412 checks and another business was booked in after 133 checks in Paphos during which a person was also fined.

No violations were reported by officers in Morphou, traffic or marine police.

All businesses were fined for €500 mainly for SafePass violations, while the main violation among individuals was the failure to wear a face mask, a police spokesman told the Cyprus Mail.
