Anad announces training programmes worth €23.3 mln

The Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (Anad) announced on Thursday that it has allocated a budget of €23.3 million for a raft of training programmes, applicable to both employed and unemployed persons, that are scheduled to start in the first half of 2022.

Anada explained that the programmes, which cover issues identified and selected by the authority after contacts with stakeholders, seek to train and improve the country’s human resources, helping to improve productivity, boost competitiveness and develop business resilience.

“The topics concern all sectors of the economy and all categories of professions,” the authority said.

These include effective business management, new technologies and innovations, green and blue skills, renewable energy sources, energy-saving methods, health and safety at work, business continuity, better equipping trainers to perform their tasks, digital skills, as well as specialised skills in a variety of professions.

The implementation of the training programmes can only be carried out by certified Vocational Training Centres, in certified Vocational Training Structures, strictly with certified Vocational Training Instructors.

The training centres have the ability to implement training programmes with both face-to-face training and distance e-learning or a combination of both methods in a hybrid learning format.

The approved programmes fall under three main categories, regular multi-business training programmes, multi-business training programmes of vital importance, and training programmes for the continuous learning of labour union members.

In terms of regular multi-business training programmes, these are intended to incentivise employers to help existing employees to continue their professional development in order to meet new and existing business needs.

These programmes apply to both employed persons, as well as to those who have been registered as unemployed.

1,815 specifications were approved for the implementation of 2,573 training programmes, with the programmes being able to accommodate 72,000 people with a total cost of €20 million.

The multi-business training programmes of vital importance category aims to address business needs primarily in terms of managerial staff or employees in scientific positions in companies of highly specialised or innovative areas, with these being seen as high-priority for the local economy.

In total, 70 programmes were approved, seeking the participation of 2,000 people with a total cost of € 3 million.

Finally, the training programmes affecting labour members are managed and implemented by trade union training centres, designed to address topics affecting each labour members’ vocation.

40 specifications have been proved, corresponding to 89 training programmes, able to accommodate 2,500 people. The total cost for these programmes has been capped at €300,000.
