The fire service was fighting a fire on Sunday morning that broke out at dawn in a building being used as a workshop for machines.

Spokesman Andreas Kettis said in a Tweet that the service was alerted to the fire at 3.46 on Sunday morning at a 40m² building in Peristerona.

The fire damaged the whole building as well as equipment inside and outside, Kettis said, in addition to some machines, mainly tractors and forklifts.

Kettis also said that on Friday evening members of the service had rescued three people when their double cabin car got stuck as they tried to cross the Yialia riverbed between the villages of Kotsiatis and Marki.
