Faulty heater withdrawn from market

An electric heater was withdrawn from the market on Wednesday for failing to comply with essential safety requirements.

In a written statement, the department of electromechanical services said the importer of the Chinese Baumann DL01S convector heater had voluntarily withdrawn it from the market.

The seller was Pop Life Electric Shops Ltd who describe the product as having 220-240 V, 1800-2000 W, 50-60 Hz.

Under the Consumer Protection Act of 2021, if an unsafe product is purchased, the consumer is entitled to a replacement product to comply with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, the consumer is entitled to return the product to the seller and receive a full refund of the amount paid.

The above rights are valid for a period of two years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and the final seller is always solely responsible to the consumer.

Anyone who knows a point-of-sale for the specific product or needs additional information can contact the department via phone on 22800514 or 22800522, via email at [email protected], or via fax on 22348202.

In a case where the seller refuses to comply with the rights of the consumer, the consumer can submit a written complaint via the website of the Consumer Protection Service (www.consumer.gov.cy).
