Lidl Cyprus has been acknowledged a ‘Top Employer in Cyprus and Europe’ for the fifth consecutive year, after having been awarded the certification from the internationally-recognised Top Employers Institute.

In fact, Lidl Cyprus is the only Cypriot company in any sector to have received the 2022 certification at a national level – clear proof it is among the island’s premier organisations in terms of its working environment.

This award is the result of the company’s activities, with a focus on its people. In addition to the benefits, which include competitive wages that are among the highest in the retail sector and above the market average, the company designs and implements a plethora of activities for its people to ensure a friendly working environment, with continuous training, growth and development, and offering equal opportunities to each of its over 650 employees.

Moreover, this certification underlines the commitment of Lidl Cyprus to inclusive working conditions and diversity, free from discrimination and stereotypes.

“Our certification this year again is further proof that we focus on our people in the stores, in the logistics centres and in the offices,” commented Spyros Kondylis, General Manager of Lidl Cyprus, adding “2021 was a very demanding year for all of us; however, we managed to ensure a safe, healthy, friendly and fair working environment.

“For 2022, we are designing comprehensive programmes for training, growth and development for each member of our team, and we plan to strengthen our presence in the Cypriot market with the opening of two new stores,” he said.

“Given the challenging year, which like the year before has impacted businesses around the world, Lidl Cyprus has continued to demonstrate that it prioritises maintaining excellent employee practices in the workplace,” said Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink. “They continue to meet the challenges of the changing workplace and work tirelessly to positively impact the lives of their employees. We are pleased to celebrate the organisations that have been certified as Top Employers in their respective countries this year.”

On a related note, in 2022 the company is set to open two new stores in Nicosia and Limassol, with plans to hire staff in a wide range of positions in the stores, logistics centres and offices, further strengthening its presence in the Cypriot retail market, and with the goal of remaining the employer of choice, with consistency and responsibility.
