Snow closes all roads to Troodos

Roads to Troodos were closed to all traffic on Sunday morning police said as snow remained heavy in the area.

The Platres-Troodos, Karvounas-Troodos and Prdromos-Troodos roads were closed due to heavy snowfall and ice making the roads dangerous.

According to a police announcement in the Morphou district the following roads are open only to those in a four-wheel drive or with chains: Pedoulas-Prodromos, Pedoulas-Pinewood-Kakopetria, Kakopetria-Karvounas and Kakopetria-Spilia-Kabbabia.

Mud and rock slides have been reported on the following roads: Karvounas-Kyperounta, Kyperounta-Dimes, Dimes-Potamitissas, Kyperounta-Chandria, Chandria-Agros, Agros-Ayios Theodoros in addition to roads around Palaichori.

Mist is also making driving difficult in the Morphou region.

Police have called on all those planning to drive towards the mountains to do so with care and to drive at low speeds.
