Man arrested for stealing a car

A 24-year-old man was arrested late on Tuesday after a credit card issued in his name was found in a car that had been reported stolen in Limassol.

The car theft was reported to the police by the 30-year-old owner a few minutes after 7pm on Tuesday.

According to the complainant, her car was stolen between 4 and 6.15om, while it was parked on a specific road in the district.

Before calling the police, the woman found her car parked outside a kiosk with an unknown man sitting in the passenger seat.

When she approached the vehicle and started talking to the suspect, he fled the scene, the woman told police.

Officers who arrived at the scene found a mobile phone which did not belong to the woman and a credit card issued in the name of the suspect in the car.

The man was called at Ayios Ioannis police station for questioning. Police said he made some allegations which are being investigated while he remains in police custody.
