Two men arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Paphos

Police issued arrest warrants for two men to facilitate investigation into a case of theft and possession and transport of illegal firearms and ammunition.

One suspect, a 23-year-old man, was arrested April 9, and a second suspect, a 32-year-old man was arrested Monday, both residents of Paphos.

After a tip-off police discovered and searched an apartment in Paphos believed to have been converted into a warehouse for stolen property.

Among other items, two solar panels, four photovoltaic batteries, a transformer, 243 mobile phone cases, 78 packages of phone screen protectors, airgun bullets, shotgun shells and a shotgun were found.

Investigation revealed that the shotgun had been stolen from a house in Paphos, and further probing resulted in testimony against both men.

The case is under ongoing investigation.
