Anastasiades and Tatar to meet at UN event Wednesday evening

President Nicos Anastasiades is set to attend an event Wednesday evening with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar on gender equality.

The event under the aegis of Unficyp will take place at the Nicosia airport protected area at 8pm and will be hosted by UN’s Special Representative Colin Stewart on the occasion of the visit to the island of Miroslav Jenča , the Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and Americas in the United Nations Department of Political Affairs.

The last time the leaders of the two communities met was December 14, 2021 at the Ledra Palace during a social event, also hosted by Stewart.

Early Wednesday the president will preside over a meeting of the cabinet and later will receive Greece’s Minister of Digital governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis who will sign a memorandum with Cyprus’ Deputy Minister Kyriakos Kokkinos.

On Wednesday Anastasiades will also lay the foundation stone of the department of biological sciences of the Leventis Foundation at the University Campus in Nicosia.
