Bases detain Greek Cypriot for cocaine possession

A Greek Cypriot man has been remanded in custody by the British bases until May 5 after being arrested for possession of cocaine with the intent to supply on April 9 in the Ypsonas and Trachoni area, the British bases said on Wednesday.

According to bases authorities, the 25-year-old was discovered by SBA police officers with four grammes of cocaine in his possession and according to chief inspector Panicos Panayi, he “will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law”.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, it simply will not be tolerated within our areas. The SBA police is committed to combating this issue in order to make our communities safe,” he said.

‘’The SBA police shall continue to carry out drug prevention operations in order to prevent such occurrences.’’
