Large stash of tobacco with unpaid duty found

Police on Wednesday seized a large quantity of duty-free tobacco products during a search of buildings and cars in Nicosia.

Between 7am and 3pm, officers from the Nicosia crime unit and customs officers searched outdoor and indoor spaces, as well as a number of vehicles in Nicosia using search warrants.

While searching a warehouse and vehicles registered to two men aged 66 and 58, officers found 2,031 cartons of cigarettes, 195 cartons of electronic cigarettes, 86,700g of shisha tobacco and 113,050g of tobacco.

The tobacco products were seized and the two suspects arrested.
