Police said a taxi driver seems to have been using his car to deliver drugs, after arresting a 53-year-old on Monday morning shortly after midnight.

Officers stopped a vehicle in Yermasoyia with two passengers inside who had been picked up by the driver as genuine passengers.

Following a search three nylon packages containing two and a half grams of cannabis, as well as 11 other packages containing a white substance believed to be cocaine, weighing about six grams, were confiscated from the car.

The 53-year-old driver was arrested, while the two passengers were interrogated with no incriminating result.

A search of the driver’s home with his written permission followed, during which four other nylon packages containing cannabis weighing 25 grams, as well as 13 packages, containing a white substance believed to be cocaine, weighing about 8 grams, were found.

Limassol police are continuing investigations.
