Nine-year-old child undergoes emergency surgery after being bitten by dog

Police were called on Sunday afternoon after a nine-year-old boy was rushed to the A&E department of the Nicosia General hospital, after being bitten by a dog.

According to the attending physician the child suffered serious injuries to the lower jaw, temple and skull. After undergoing surgery, the boy was transported to Makarios Hospital, where he stayed for ongoing treatment.

It appears the child was attacked late Sunday morning, while at home in Nicosia district. Preliminary examination revealed the dog to be unregistered, while a search warrant of the owner’s residence has been issued.
