Residents reported they felt an earthquake in Paphos and other parts of the island on Tuesday night.

At an estimated 4.8 magnitude, the earthquake’s epicentre was reportedly 21km south west of Paphos at a depth of 17km.

The quake was reported a few minutes after 10pm by the Euro-Mediterranean seismological centre, an independent scientific organisation which provides real-time earthquake information through an online application.

The organisation also published a map showing coloured dots to demonstrate where the local shaking and damage level was reported by eyewitnesses.

No official confirmation about the quake was issued by the Cyprus Seismological Centre.
