Three remanded after slew of thefts

Larnaca court

Three men were remanded for seven days by Famagusta district court over a series of charges primarily centered on stolen goods, items ranging from farm equipment to car parts.

The slew of thefts allegedly took place in the past three months, while police were alerted to the three suspects following statements made by another apparent member of the ring, a 29-year-old, who was himself picked up by police on Monday.

Famagusta police searched the house of the 29-year-old where they found seemingly stolen goods, later securing statements from the suspect which led the authorities to another two residences where more items were encountered.

Consequently, three suspects, another aged 29, a 20-year-old and a 48-year-old, were remanded for seven days on Tuesday. The 29-year-old who cooperated with police was released but is due in court at a later stage.
