Turkish Cypriot businesses are appealing to Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and President Nicos Anastasiades for new checkpoints in the Famagusta gate area, describing the crossings at Agios Dometios and Ledra Street as inadequate.

Turkish-Cypriot newspaper Diyalog Gazetesi reported that Turkish Cypriot businesses were focusing on the need to develop relations between the two communities to reach a solution in Cyprus.

Diyalog Gazetesi reported that since the complete lifting of the pandemic measures, there has been a serious increase in crossings and there is excessive crowding at Ayios Dhometios and Ledra Street.

Shopkeepers say that the market has come alive due to increased crossings from the free to the occupied areas and that in order for there to be more growth, new crossing points need to be opened.
