The leader of Socialist Edek party, Marinos Sizopoulos, late on Friday announced the convening of the party’s Pancyprian Congress on Saturday at 5 pm.

He also announced the holding of elections on Sunday for the election of a deputy leader, two vice presidents of the party and 35 members of the central committee to complete the collective bodies of the party.

The decision, Sizopoulos said, was taken at an extraordinary, closed-door meeting of the Central Committee, with only one dissent and two withdrawals of members before the start of the session.

Sizopoulos said, elections would be held in each district at times to be announced at the congress on Saturday.
