Football fan seriously injured after fall following Paphos match

A 27-year-old Paphos football fan is in hospital after falling during a match, police said on Saturday.

According to the police report, the man had been participating in celebrations after a match between Paphos and Aris Limassol on Friday afternoon.

He fell through the fabric entrance tunnel which collapsed, resulting in a drop into a hatch with a depth of 2.75 metres.

The 27-year-old was taken by ambulance to Paphos hospital A&E department, where doctors determined he had sustained skull injuries and brain haemorrhage.

Due to the severity of his situation he was then taken to Nicosia General Hospital.

His condition is considered serious but stable.
