Five men arrested for burglary and theft in past twenty-four hours

Five men, aged between 18 and 32, were arrested by police for three cases of for burglary and theft.

Larnaca police arrested a 26-year-old man who has been detained with a court warrant for six days.

According to police statement the burglary was committed on the early evening of March 25. The aluminium kitchen door, metalware from the bathroom, as well as metal components from household electrical appliances were stolen from a house, while damage was caused to tiled walls. The total value of the stolen property, as well as the damage caused, is estimated at €1,000.

Kofinou police are investigating the case.

In another case under investigation, a 32-year-old man was arrested by police upon his arrival at Larnaca airport on Sunday. An arrest warrant was pending against the 32-year-old, issued after information emerged on the burglary of a Limassol apartment in 2015. According to the tenant’s complaint, a large amount of money, a watch and a gold medal were stolen from the apartment, as well as his documents.

Limassol police are investigating the case.

Lastly, three men, aged 18, 22, and 26 were arrested Sunday night for a case of illegal possession of property.

The three suspects were stopped for control by members of the Paphos traffic police, shortly after midnight on Sunday. A search of the vehicle turned up two air conditioning units, for the possession of which the three suspects did not provide satisfactory explanation, raising suspicions that the units had been stolen.

The case is being investigated by the Paphos police, while traffic police is also investigating a case of traffic violations, since the 18-year-old, suspect drove on a student license driver, without being accompanied by a licensed driver, and without insurance coverage.
