President Nicos Anastasiades met Greek Prime Minister Kyriacos Mitsotakis in Athens on Friday where they spoke of the complete harmony and unity of the two nations in seeking peace and stability in the eastern Mediterranean.

Anastasiades is in Greece to address the 14th New Democracy conference.

“The ties between our two parties are well known and historical,” Mitsotakis said.

Meeting the Greek leader, Anastasiades spoke of key visits taking place with major players in the region – such as Saudi Arabia, the Prince of which is set to visit both the island and Greece in the next few weeks.

Mitsotakis said his upcoming visit to Washington in the US will see him raise the common goals of Greece and Cyprus, “at a time when expansionist revisionism has once again made its reappearance on our continent”.

They praised the shared vision of the two nations in working towards the realisation of common goals, including in the energy and security sector.
